- Left unfinished, cedar will typically provide 15 to 25 years of use outdoors.
- Environmentally conscious 'green' manufacturing processes:
- Sustainably harvested wood from responsibly managed local woodlots
- Local sourcing of wood (25 to 85 miles away) reduces carbon footprint from transportation.
- Wood is used efficiently to minimize waste, and scraps are ground into shavings and reused as animal bedding.
- Shipping boxes utilize reused or recycled cardboard, and all unused cardboard is recycled.
- Our cedar, natural and untreated (why is this important?), is grown
in moist swampy New England woodlands.
- Cedar absorbs and loses moisture slowly, which minimizes the dry cracking, splintering and swelling more characteristic of oak or pine.
- Cedar has the US Forest Products Laboratory's highest rating for decay and disease resistance.
- Fresh cedar odor is a mild insect repellent.

The curved seat and back of the Tupper Lake Rocking Settee promise hours of comfort, and the sturdy construction and quality craftsmanship is backed by a
5 year manufacturer's warranty. This versatile unfinished cedar 2 person rocker is at home indoors or outside, and the environmentalist in you will
appreciate the fact that it is eco friendly from forest to factory.
Our manufacturer is Chain of Custody certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) which supports environmentally responsible manufacturing practices. The cedar is sustainably harvested from
woodlots that are managed in an environmentally safe manner. All of the cedar comes from local sources, and is only transported 25 to 85 miles from forest to factory - reducing the carbon footprint
of this earth friendly product. Wood waste is kept to a minimum, but any scrap that is generated is ground into shavings to be used as high quality animal bedding.
Left in its natural state, cedar furniture normally provides 15 to 25 years of outdoor use, and will mellow to a silvery grey over time
(about 6 to 12 months outdoors - much longer indoors). If you like, you can keep the new milled look by applying a clear wood preserver, or alter the look by applying a darker stain. Stains
and preservers will extend the life of your furniture even further - plan on re-applying every 1 to 2 years.
