Please note - bed dimensions are outside to outside and may vary due to differences in log diameters.
- Each piece is superbly sanded to a smooth finish to give you an enduring beauty.
- Quality construction that will last for generations.
- Our cedar, natural and untreated (why is this important?), is grown in moist swampy woodlands.
- Cedar absorbs and loses moisture slowly, which minimizes the dry cracking, splintering and swelling more characteristic of oak or pine.
- Cedar has the US Forest Products Laboratory's highest rating for decay and disease resistance.
- Fresh cedar odor is a mild insect repellent.
- Environmentally conscious 'green' manufacturing processes:
- Sustainably harvested wood from responsibly managed local woodlots
- Local sourcing of wood reduces carbon footprint from transportation.
- The cedar is cut from forests in Canada. The largest trees are targeted as they have the most pulp and they convert the least amount of
Co2 to oxygen. Clearing of old growth allows for younger growth to flourish and convert more carbon dioxide. The forest are never clear cut and cedar is plentiful throughout Canada.
- The entire tree is used - limbs and cuttings are turned into different cedar products, such as mulch, oils, and cedar chips. The trunk
is used for fencing components and shingles and the smaller pieces are used to make our furniture and garden accents; scraps are used for cedar
chips, mulch, and shavings.
- No chemical treatments, preventing harsh chemicals from leeching into the ground and water supplies. Stains are not used or needed; left
untreated, cedar turns a pleasing silver-gray with exposure to sunlight.
- Wood biodegrades - At the end of its long and useful life, cedar furniture wont occupy any landfill space. Wood breaks down very
quickly in landfills, less than 25 years. Plastics can take up to a millennium to decompose.
- Our cedar products are shipped in their natural color, pale tan or light gold. The color changes evenly over time to a silver gray. Water-based
or oil stains will delay the process. Latex paint coats evenly and lets wood breathe.
- Comes complete with headboard, footboard, heavy duty metal side rails concealed by a wood cap, and all necessary hardware.
- Metal side rails are covered by a wood cap, so you get the look of wood with the sturdiness of metal.
- Optional metal center support system - attaches to the bed's side rails and provides support for the box spring. This is required for
the King and Queen sizes, and recommended for the Double/Full. The Twin does not need it. We offer it as an option because you may already have one from your current bed, or you may want to purchase
one from a local bedding store.
- Assembly required
- 5 year manufacturer's warranty.
- Free shipping to the continental US! Please note: King size bed must ship by truck

Reduced pollution - Rustic Natural Cedar Furniture Company and Tick-n-Thistle reduces the carbon footprint and pollution by strategic placement of facilities. The mill is in Quebec, Canada, in the
type of climate that cedar flourishes. The sole distribution center is in Rhode Island, USA. The forests are very close to the mill and the distribution center is only 6 hours away. From the warehouse,
we ship directly to the end user, reducing the number of times that the order is shipped. This logistics system minimizes the number of times that a product is transported, therefore reducing the
carbon output.
Quality furniture lasts - Rustic Cedar's devotion to quality saves you money and prevents more energy and landfill space from being used.
Leave as is to mellow to a beautiful silver grey over time, or add the finish of your choice. If you like, you can keep the new milled look by applying a clear wood preserver, or alter the look
by applying a darker stain. Stains and preservers will extend the life of your furniture even further - plan on re-applying every 1 to 2 years.

Detail of the Cedar Log Bed showing construction details and the natural features such as the knots and checking that make each bed truly unique.

Please note that over time as it continues to dry and cure, cedar normally will "check", which means it will develop slight cracks along the length of the logs. This is a normal and
natural process which adds to the beauty and character of the wood, and it in no way affects the strength or durability of the furniture.
