• Shipped unfinished, you can add your own finish or leave as is. Cedar develops a weathered, silver grey patina in one year for most climates. Water-based or oil stains will delay the weathering process.  Latex paint coats evenly and lets wood breathe.
• Unfinished cedar will typically provide 15 to 25 years of service outdoors.
• Cedar absorbs and loses moisture slowly, which minimizes the dry cracking, splintering and swelling more characteristic of oak or pine.
• Cedar has the US Forest Products Laboratory's highest rating for decay and disease resistance.
• Fresh cedar odor is a mild insect repellent.

Our eco friendly Around the Tree Bench turns your favorite tree into a quiet retreat.  Two sizes (24" and 36" inside diameter) accommodate most trees, and the optional back rest (available only on the 36" size) adds extra comfort and keeps the sap off your clothes!. Each bench is carefully sanded to ensure smooth edges and splinter-free surfaces. They are assembled in the shop to assure proper fit, then the pieces are marked and disassembled for shipping. All the necessary screws are included, along with clear instructions for assembly (very easy!)  Free shipping!

Our manufacturer grows their own trees and takes great pride in managing their woodlots in an environmentally safe, sustainable and responsible manner. Each tree is hand selected and harvested during the cold Maine winters to minimize damage to the surrounding trees and saplings. The logs are cut to length and milled so as to minimize waste. Once the rough cut lumber is dried, it is planed and sorted so that only the very best boards are used in their shop. (The rest is sold locally as dimensional lumber, so it doesn't go to waste!)
