Made from unfinished cedar, this bench will weather to a silvery gray in 6 to 12 months, and last for 15 to 25 years outdoors in its natural state. If you like, you can keep the new milled look by applying a clear wood preserver, or alter the look by applying a darker stain. Stains and preservers will extend the life of your furniture even further - plan on re-applying every 1 to 2 years.

Our manufacturer is Chain of Custody certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) which supports environmentally responsible manufacturing practices. The cedar is sustainably harvested from woodlots that are managed in an environmentally safe manner. All of the cedar comes from local sources, and is only transported 25 to 85 miles from forest to factory - reducing the carbon footprint of this eco friendly product. Wood waste is kept to a minimum, but any scrap that is generated is ground into shavings to be used as high quality animal bedding.

Fresh cedar odor is a mild insect repellent.

Our cedar products are shipped in their natural color, pale tan or light gold. The color changes evenly over time to a silver gray. Water-based or oil stains will delay the weathering process while preserving the natural wood grain. If you choose to paint, use a latex paint which will coat evenly and let wood breathe.
