This Earth friendly Adirondack rocking chair is shipped to you folded, all you have to do is attach the rocker rails! At the end of the season, just remove the rails, and it folds back up for storage. You'll love the outstanding craftsmanship, soothing motion, wide armrests and gently curved seat whether you use it in your yard, on your porch, lakeside, or by the fireplace.

Hand crafted in the Adirondacks of kiln dried cedar which has superb weathering characteristics, left unfinished it will develop a soft gray weathered look within a year in most climates.

Our manufacturer is Chain of Custody certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) which supports environmentally responsible manufacturing practices. The cedar is sustainably harvested from woodlots that are managed in an environmentally safe manner. All of the cedar comes from local sources, and is only transported 25 to 85 miles from forest to factory - reducing the carbon footprint of this earth friendly product. Wood waste is kept to a minimum, but any scrap that is generated is ground into shavings to be used as high quality animal bedding.

Local sourcing of wood (25 to 85 miles away) reduces carbon footprint from transportation.

Wood is used efficiently to minimize waste, and scraps are ground into shavings and reused as animal bedding.

Shipping boxes utilize reused or recycled cardboard, and all unused cardboard is recycled.

Our cedar, natural and untreated (why is this important?), is grown in moist swampy New England woodlands.

Cedar absorbs and loses moisture slowly, which minimizes the dry cracking, splintering and swelling more characteristic of oak or pine.

Cedar has the US Forest Products Laboratory's highest rating for decay and disease resistance.

Fresh cedar odor is a mild insect repellent.

Our cedar products are shipped in their natural color, pale tan or light gold. The color changes evenly over time to a silver gray. Water-based or oil stains will delay the weathering process while preserving the natural wood grain. If you choose to paint, use a latex paint which will coat evenly and let wood breathe.
